Not worth it

I was exciting to try this toner but was left feeling very disappointed with the (lack of) results. There was no visible difference after using daily for a fortnight. Two stars purely because it caused no adverse reactions. Not worth the price tag - would not recommend.

Best Use: Uneven Skin Texture

Gentle

I didn’t love this. I found it to be gentle so I experienced no irritation, peeling or dryness. But I didn’t experience any skin brightening immediately (like I do with, for example, the Dr Dennis Gross peel pads) and I didn’t really find this to be effective. Maybe it is meant to ve used daily, but I prefer a stronger liquid exfoliant that I only use 2-3 times per week.

Just ok

I had a trial size of this so started using it instead of my usual pure witch hazel toner. I prefer a minimalistic toner, so even though this votary toner is still ‘natural’ I was hesitant to incorporate it into my routine. When using it, I did find that it removed excess dirt and makeup. I had no negative effects from it aside from when it got into my eyes! Anyway, it’s a decent toner in terms of last step in cleansing, but I didn’t see any amazing or different results and I wouldn’t switch to it from my more ‘basic’ toner.

Average and smells bad

I have generally had a positive experience with Votary products albeit find them overpriced but this product is average and I would have gave it 3 stars had it not been for the unpleasant smell. I use retinol so only used it twice a week and although it did leave my skin a bit brighter looking there are far better AHA toners out there at a fraction of the price. I'd swerve this product.

Some getting used to but overall not unpleasant

When I first started using it, it did feel that it was potentially a little irritating on my skin (so would recommend maybe easing into it with gentler products used alongside it), however after using it for 3 months (a little goes a long way) in both my morning and evening routine - can say that I quite enjoy it. When I put it on, leaves my skin feeling more even in tone and firmer, the smell does take some getting used to (not sure if I'll ever welcome the smell of vinegar on my face) but given how the smell doesn't linger once put on - would recommend
